Job Title: Academic Operations Manager
💼 Employment Type: Full Time
Job Description
What You'll Do
The Academic Operations Manager provides senior leadership across the Human Resource Resourcing Unit, holding overall accountability for two interconnected functions: the core Resourcing Team and the newly established Relief Team. The Academic Operations Manager sets the direction, standards and performance of the entire unit – overseeing teacher selection, scheduling, deployment, relief coverage and the administrative processes that support teaching staff. As classes run seven days a week, the Academic Operations Manager also maintains oversight of the Relief Team’s response to any last-minute or urgent relief needs, including standby availability outside normal working hours.
The Academic Operations Manager reports to the Head of Human Resource (or designated Reporting Officer) and holds overall leadership of the Resourcing Unit, which comprises two teams:
- Resourcing Team – teacher sourcing, selection, scheduling, deployment and teacher-related administration.
- Relief Team – sourcing and coordination of all categories of relief teachers, including any last-minute or urgent relief required across a 7-day operating week.
Key Responsibilities
Unit Leadership & Team Management
- Lead and oversee the entire Resourcing Unit, setting direction, standards and performance objectives for both the Resourcing Team and the Relief Team.
- Manage and develop the Resourcing Team, providing guidance, coaching and professional development to build a high-performing, service-oriented unit.
Relief Team Oversight (7-Day Coverage)
- Hold overall responsibility for the Relief Team, ensuring all categories of relief teachers are sourced, vetted and deployed effectively, with rapid response to any last-minute or urgent relief required across all seven days of the week.
- Maintain a ready pool of relief teachers and contingency plans to minimise disruption to classes.
- Serve as the senior escalation point for unresolved or critical relief situations, including standby availability outside normal working hours to support the team.
Scheduling & Deployment
- Oversee the development and refinement of the master schedule for teacher deployment, ensuring optimal utilisation of teaching expertise and collaborating with academic leadership to assign teachers based on qualifications and class requirements.
